Neat-O

Forgot another neat-o thing: Feijoa in the garden. Winter can be a lean season for fruit. Actually, for nearly anything. The citrus in my yard is not mature enough to be bearing much yet so I really don't have much. But one of my six feijoa bushes is mature enough to give this year. And it has surprisingly big fruit. Today I went out to the garden to dump coffee grounds and remembered to check the feijoa while I was at it. The best way to judge ripeness of feijoa is when it's dropped to the ground. Of course, the slugs have decided they like feijoa just fine so I have to get there pretty quickly. Anyway, feijoa is a nice tasty treat and I'm very glad I planted it. When the rest come into maturity, I will be partway towards having a year-round harvest in my garden.

Well, I have no one to give the quiche to. I took a nap and when I woke up it was late enough in the afternoon that I could call and ask if they'd decided not to go out there. They had. And forgot to call and tell me so, which is understandable given their situation. She's having second thoughts about selling the machine, too.

I should start making Xmas cookies as gifts for my next-door-neighbors but I feel too crappy. Not dreadfully awful but definitely coldish/fluish. Probably not a good idea to cook while sick, eh? Typhoid Mary.

I'm late on gift-giving and greetings. Bah. Humbug.

The house is a sty so I can't watch TV in the living room. It's completely carpeted with receipts and files. Back to bed with some cartoons or something. Although a certain amount of burrowing under papers has to be done there, too.

Merry Christmas, all ye bloggers!

Quite possibly. What got me on this subject? Well, I've been watching The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theater, which I just discovered last night. He's done adaptations of Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, and others. I was surprised to see he's done this famous Abbott and Costello routine. Imagine doing this routine when baseball is a foreign sport to you! I mean, I couldn't do cricket humor convincingly. I suppose it's helped by the fact that there are a lot more worldwide hits that are baseball movies than are cricket movies.

This routine is bulletproof. With the exception of baseball terminology, it uses concepts and words from Standard English. It can be delivered by anyone who knows English. Of course, Abbott and Costello delivered it best, but others, even non-comedians, can deliver this routine and crack an audience up.
