I first saw Robert Culp in The Greatest American Hero. I liked that show quite a lot when it came out. Like other young girls, I crushed on William Katt (even though I'm not into blondes, in general). Now that it's out on DVD, I wanted to check it out again and started doing that a couple months ago. It was hard going after the first couple episodes. Good idea that wasn't realized quite as well as it could have been. But what I discovered this time around was how incredibly good Robert Culp is. The guy just oozes charm, even when he's playing a right-wing FBI messup.
So I decided to check out I Spy. I'm really enjoying it. The writing isn't always good, but it's usually pretty good. I *love* the location filming they did. I love seeing Hong Kong and Spain and Italy in the '60s in "living color". The chemistry between Cosby and Culp is great. And Culp? Holy crap, is he an attractive man. (Oakland native, too.) Great theme by Earle Hagen and good incidental music by Frankenheimer.
Jo-Barbie says check it out.
