Sorry to hear about the suckage on the trip home, too. I'd offer vacay space at Casa Fred, but the kid sitch wouldn't make it very restful.

Thanks. I was looking at SF Zen Center's site because they also have Tassajara. Tassajara has a season and it just closed. I'm not sure about Green Gulch's seasons, but it looks like all volunteer work there is something I'd have to commute to, which I can't afford to do.

I looked at Berkeley Zen Center and it's not far from me although it doesn't have the live-in part that I crave. I really want to get away from everything. The world makes me sad and many of the people in it hurt me.

I spent some time online trying to look at info on the various Buddhist sects. I think the sitting meditation might be a bit much for me in anything but small doses. Plus I'm so fat old and decrepit now that I'd have trouble assuming the position. I think work mindfulness, especially in the garden, is where it's at for me.
